New additions

Saturday saw me at my first show of the year, judging the Yorkshire Rat Club‘s January show. There were about seventy entries, and some lovely rats there but the final decisions were easy – a quality rat always shines through. There were lots of marked compared to what I’m used to seeing up in the North and in Scotland, and some really nice examples. I also got to judge my first downunder – a very cute black downunder hooded dumbo boy.

And of course I didn’t come back empty handed. The wonderful Lisa of Blairwitch Stud dropped off my two new arrivals from Rivendell – a very sweet ivory doe, and something a little bit more unusual …

Please meet Rivendell All That Glitters, who is probably best described as a golden silver agouti. I’m still trying to decide who will be best to mate her to when she’s of age, but I’m sure whoever it is we will have some beautiful kittens from her.

    Hello
My name is Inge and I live in Belgium. I breed rats for 9 years now, with a lot of joy and love for my animals.
I can accross this website of yours, and saw this beauty Rivendell All That Glitters. I also saw the planning you have for the silver agouti’s.
I am not so into these kind of colors, but now that i have seen pictures i would love to know how to breed them.
I also breed marten, i have a litter at the moment with blue, mink and black martens, they are hooded, dumbo and some are rex. The black ones i call black because they are so dark, that only looking at there little heads you can see that they are marten.
I would love to keep them all myself ;) But i have some very nice people that are adopting them.
But if you find the time, and if you want to help me, please let me know what i must do to get some beautiful silver agouti’s like yours.

Thank you very much for your time.

    Inge

Inge, silver agouti is simply the agouti form of marten. So if you breed your martens to agoutis, then breed the offspring together, you should get some silver agoutis in those litters.

Good luck – they are simply the most beautiful new variety I have seen in a long time.
